About Smart TV Comparisons
Independent TV reviews built on real research, honest opinions, and zero sponsored rankings. We exist to help you find the right TV without the noise.

Who We Are
Smart TV Comparisons is an independent TV review and comparison site. We are not sponsored by Samsung, LG, TCL, Hisense, or any other manufacturer. No brand pays for placement. No company approves our content before it goes live.
We built this site because the TV market is overwhelming. There are hundreds of models across dozens of brands, and most "review" sites just rehash spec sheets without telling you what actually matters. We wanted something better: a resource that cuts through marketing jargon and gives you straight answers about which TV fits your room, your budget, and how you actually watch.
Our catalog covers 55+ TVs across 5 categories, from budget LED panels under $300 to flagship OLEDs and the latest Mini-LED displays. Every product gets the same rigorous evaluation regardless of brand or price.
How We Test
Every TV we review goes through a multi-step evaluation process. We do not rely on manufacturer-provided data alone.
- Real-world spec verification — We cross-reference claimed specifications against actual performance data from Amazon reviews, owner reports, and third-party measurements. Manufacturers sometimes overstate peak brightness or undercount input lag.
- Side-by-side comparison — Products within the same category are evaluated against each other on the same criteria: panel type, refresh rate, HDR format support, dimming zones, smart platform, port count, and build quality.
- Use-case matching — A TV that is excellent for a dark home theater may perform poorly in a bright living room. We test and recommend based on real scenarios: gaming, sports, movies, streaming, wall mounting, and outdoor use.
- Price-to-value analysis — We track prices across the catalog and evaluate what you actually get per dollar. A mid-range TV with 90% of a flagship's features at 50% of the price is often the smarter buy.
- Long-term monitoring — We revisit reviews when prices drop, firmware updates change performance, or new competitors launch. Our publish dates reflect when content was last verified.
Our Review Process
Each review follows a structured process from initial research through final publication.
- Research — We study the product's specifications, read through hundreds of verified buyer reviews on Amazon, and identify what owners love and what frustrates them. We pull from real-world experience, not press releases.
- Category context — We position each TV within its category. A budget 55" LED is evaluated against other budget 55" LEDs, not against a flagship OLED. This produces honest, useful assessments instead of blanket "buy the most expensive one" advice.
- Pros and cons — Every product gets genuine strengths and genuine weaknesses. No TV is perfect. If a product has a fatal flaw, we say so. If a cheap TV punches above its weight, we say that too.
- Verdict and recommendation — We summarize who should buy each TV and who should skip it. "Best for" recommendations are specific: best for gaming, best for bright rooms, best for budget buyers, best for movie watching.
- Fact-checking and publishing — Before publishing, we verify that specifications, pricing tiers, and availability are current. We link directly to Amazon so you can confirm the current price yourself.
Editorial Independence
Our business model is straightforward. We earn a commission when you purchase a product through our Amazon affiliate links. That is how this site stays free.
But here is what that means and what it does not mean:
- Same commission on every product — We earn the same percentage whether you buy a budget Insignia or a premium LG OLED. There is no financial incentive to recommend expensive products over affordable ones.
- No sponsored reviews — No brand has ever paid us to review a product, adjust a rating, or change a recommendation. Every opinion on this site is our own.
- No pre-approval — Manufacturers do not review or approve our content before publication. What you read is what we think.
- Honest cons on every product — Every review includes real weaknesses. If we only wrote positives, you would have no reason to trust our recommendations.
We believe the best way to earn your trust is to help you make the right purchase, not just any purchase. A reader who buys the right TV based on our advice is more valuable to us long-term than one who returns a product we oversold.
The Team
We are a small team of TV and home entertainment enthusiasts who have spent years following the industry, tracking product launches, and studying display technology. Our backgrounds span consumer electronics journalism, product testing, and data analysis.
We are not a large media company with dozens of reviewers. We are a focused team that covers the TV market deeply rather than broadly. This means we know the difference between Samsung's QLED and LG's QNED marketing, why TCL's Mini-LED zone counts matter, and when paying extra for OLED actually makes sense for your situation.
Our goal is to be the resource we wished existed when we were shopping for our own TVs: detailed, honest, and free of the marketing fluff that dominates most "review" sites.
Get in Touch
We read every message. If you have questions about a specific TV, found an error in our content, or want to suggest a product for review, reach out to us.
- Product corrections — If a spec, price tier, or availability note is wrong, let us know and we will fix it promptly.
- Review requests — Want us to cover a TV that is not in our catalog? We prioritize requests based on reader interest and market relevance.
- General questions — Can't decide between two TVs? We're happy to point you in the right direction based on your specific needs.
Affiliate Disclosure
Smart TV Comparisons is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
When you click a product link on this site and make a purchase on Amazon, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. This commission is the same regardless of which product you purchase and does not influence our reviews, rankings, or recommendations in any way.
We link to Amazon because it is the largest and most trusted online retailer for consumer electronics. Amazon's customer reviews, return policy, and price transparency align with our goal of helping you make informed purchases. We do not earn commissions from manufacturer websites or other retailers.
Prices on Amazon change frequently. We use price tier descriptions (budget, mid-range, premium) rather than exact dollar amounts because the price you see when you click may differ from what it was when we wrote the review. Always check the current price on Amazon before purchasing.
